Who is Yannaris?
In Crete, everyone has a nickname. It’s a tradition rooted in our culture, often combining a physical trait, a family name, or a blend of the father’s and son’s names. Yannaris means “The big Yannis”.
Yannaris was our grandfather, a Cretan farmer & shepherd at the footsteps of Asterousia mountains —the southernmost mountain range of Europe, right where Zeus abducted Europe!
His nickname embodies our family history, deeply rooted in the olive groves of rural Crete. Here, where every person has a story told through their nickname, we found inspiration to preserve our heritage and share it with the world.
Who we are & What we stand for?
We are descendants of Yannaris, proud heirs of his land united by a shared mission to honor his legacy and his passion for the land he lived and nurtured —a sprawling olive grove where trees have stood strong for over half a century.
Our mission is simple but profound —to uphold the timeless bond between olive trees and the Cretan landscape by producing exceptional olive oil while respecting the environment, restoring soil health, preserving biodiversity, and contributing to a healthier planet. To fullfil this, we have reunited the land passed down from our grandfather and committed to organic, regenerative farming.
Across 20 acres of family land, we care for olive trees that have thrived for generations. Every drop of our olive oil embodies our love for Crete and our commitment to:
